Computer DepartmentComputer Centre FESCO is a data Processing unit of the company. It maintains the database of all electricity consumers within the jurisdiction of the company. It receives data from field offices, processes and produces various outputs including electricity bills. Its roll is quite vital in keeping the chick and balance of company’s resources. There are 3 installations in Faisalabad Region one at Regional level in Faisalabad 2nd in Jhang and 3rd in Sargodha. Jhang and Sargodha Centres each is headed by a DD (CO). FCC has very capable work force headed by Director Computer Operation who himself is very competent data processing expert. Under his command, there are four deputy directors and seven Assistant directors having a good experience of billing and programming. Among other staff, there are about 237 employees in various cadres such as Data Entry Operator, Data Coders, Computer Operators, supporting staff of administration and accounts etc. HARDWARE There are two types of hardware installationd at Computer Centres: i) Micro VAX System ii) PC System. Micro VAX is used for electricity Billing and allied services, where as for other jobs such as preparation of statistics, presentations, reports, e-mail, Internet etc Pentium level PCs are used. Along with Micro VAX System, there are high-speed line printers. SOFTWARE Software for electricity billing is prepared by WAPDA programmers using COBOL Language. It is worth mentioning that transfer of files and other information among our three Centres is being done by e-mail and by modem using telephone lines. |
