POWER AND DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IN FESCO FESCO is undertaking extensive power development programme planned and monitored by Directorate of Planning & Engineering. Energy loss reduction (ELR) programme financed under IBRD loan 3764-Pak has recently been completed with expenditure of Rs. 99.683 million. Other ELR programmes under IBRD Loan 824 and 1073 have already been completed. Presently FESCO is working on system improvement under distribution of Power (DOP) programme financed through its own resources. This programme is meant to improve voltage, augment or install additional transformers in case of existing overload transformers and extension of H.T/L.T lines where required to ensure uninterrupted supply to the consumers. To meet the evergrowing demand of power, Grid Stations are also being augmented through NTDC, in addition to construction of new Grid Stations
WORKING OF CONSTRUCTION DIRECTORATE Construction Directorate is responsible for carrying out all kinds of new development works in the jurisdiction of FESCO. 1.REHABILITATION OF DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM This envisages addressal of voltage problems, Addition / augmentation of distribution transformers, bifurcation of 11 kV lines, Extension of new lines. The scope is limited exactly to existing customers. No new locality or new customers are to be covered. It is only rehabilitation of existing system undergoing increased pressures due to phenomenal load growth. Such schemes are funded through different loans and a sizable part covered by Fesco itself. 2. DEPOSIT WORKS In this category usually new housing schemes, big Government connections, electrification of new areas are covered exactly on the deposit by sponsors. Municipal Corporation Faisalabad is also getting relocations due to widening of roads under this category. 3. VILLAGE ELECTRIFICATION New village electrification had been the main feature of the Directorate. But this was carried out only through the funds provide by different loaning agencies like ADB, OECF and some part funded by sitting Federal Governments under people’s program, Tameer-e-Wattan program and in the shape of Prime Minister’s directives, Federal minister for Water and Power directives.
Presently unfortunately there is no such program and so no new electrification under village electrification even consisting Of few poles is possible. There were 14 villages under IBRD which were leftover for the last 03 to 04 where only PCC poles were installed but work was stopped due to termination of IBRD loan. In June 2000 WAPDA has managed funds (through some adjustments in other loans) as 7.6 million to complete these villages. This completion of 14 villages is likely to take place upto August 2000. In certain cases, some residents of un-electrified areas have come forward and got electrified their houses making deposits from their pockets covering these areas with one small transformer and few PCC poles.
